Background

History:

Born to a small family on Rinn, Selina had a very normal lifestyle. Her days were filled with the typical rigors of studies and the pleasures of simply living a conflict-free lifestyle. Rinn itself had remained largely untouched by the past events and struggles of the Imperial Republic. Too most on the planet, there was little desire to travel elsewhere or stake any claim on the galactic scene. In fact, it was not until Rinn received a visit from a very mysterious sentient race that problems began to arise. A plague had seemed to wash over the planet, killing plant and animal life alike. In their time of need, the Rinnians came to rely on Selina’s twin brother, Murtagh. Within days, the plague was gone and Murtagh was regarded as something of a hero. However, in the days that followed, something happened to Murtagh. He changed not only in personality and manner, but in appearance as well. Something had affected the once good-natured Rinnian.

Proclaiming himself King of Rinn, Murtagh ruled with an iron fist. Aided by unnatural powers which, unknown to the Rinnians, had ‘infected’ him due to his sensitivity to the force, Murtagh was nearly unstoppable. What Selina did not know was that she too was sensitive to the force, the symbiote simply had not chosen her. Several calls for help were secretly dispatched, but it was not until two representatives of the Imperial Republic answered the call that hope slowly started to rekindle. However, even Layha and Revan were unable to immediately determine the source of Murtagh’s ailment. Days later…Murtagh was freed from the rule of his uninvited guest, but he was far from ‘cured’. The symbiote had left a lasting impression on the elder Vadcasta. The dark side…would forever taint his soul.

Naturally, the citizens of Rinn did not take well to the explanation of Murtagh’s ailment. Discovering that the Vadcasta children were the cause of their pain, the Rinnians (including the parents of Selina and Murtagh) forced the children into exile. Layha secretly took Murtagh to reside on Hapes where he could be watched and protected while Revan took Selina as his first apprentice and returned to Coruscant. When Hapan authorities notified Layha that her ‘guest’ was causing too many problems, she dispatched Selina along with her new master to ‘deal with it’. In Revan’s estimation, Murtagh was too far gone to be saved, and he was completely out of control. The very balance of the force would be threatened if the man’s lust for destruction and death was not ended one way or another. It fell to Selina to deal with her brother. She tried to reason with him multiple times, but when he nearly killed her, she reacted purely out of self-defense, killing him first. Overcome with confusion, grief, and anger, Selina vowed to bring an end to whatever race started the entire problem in the first place.

Tempered only slightly by Revan’s nurturing, Selina remains very much an instrument of darkness. However, from Revan she has learned and continues to learn control. To this day, she continues to serve Revan as an apprentice and Regent of Naboo during his absences. Revan and Layha’s son, Jayden, has also grown rather attached to the woman. Selina is the only person Revan trusts with his son aside from the boy’s mother. In fact, given his mother’s seemingly unstable nature these days…he just might trust Selina more.

Type of Childhood: Selina had a surprisingly happy, normal childhood. It was not until her brother’s self-proclamation as Ruler of Rinn that her life was turned upside down.
