Background –

Neela Veris is the typical curious Shi’ido, but with the less common trait of not being shy. She was born on Lao-mon, and taken to Corellia to be raised by some of her extended family in the public scene. More background information can be found in the character’s timeline.

History :

Neela and four of her cousins (Taim, Eris, Aeon, and Samhin) were born on different planets, at the exact same time. Thinking this as a sign, their grandmother (Tash Arranda) gathered all of them on Corellia to be raised in the traditional Shi’ido ways without having more than a few days to know their birth parents. It was discovered that none of them had the Force sensitivity that Tash herself had, and she was further disappointed to learn that Samhin was not a full-blooded Shi’ido, and unskilled. He was sent home to his parents at the age of three.

The other four cousins continued to learn not only how to use and manipulate their skill of shapeshifting, but were taught about other cultures and educated on matters of the Galaxy. Posing as a human family as soon as the children were able to hold their forms long enough to be seen and go to school, they attended public schooling in the day and studied well into the night. By the time the children were mid teens, they were well versed in shapeshifting, and moved on to the other arts.

Learning how to read emotions, manipulate the minds of others to portray limited “alternate” actualities, and learning to love studying became her pasttimes. As she reached the age of 49, Neela and Eris were both deemed special by their grandmother Tash for their uncanny ability to exceed in all of their areas of study as if each specification was their study’s focus. They all continued studying with their grandmother until the age of 72, when they were deemed educated adults and allowed to take their own paths.
